A couple of weeks ago we had the opportunity to care for about 30 people through the MCREST (Macomb Country Rotating Emergency Shelter Team) organization. It takes a good bit of work to provide the necessary help, but we had many who stepped up to help. For us, though, it was one week and 30 people. For our brothers and sisters in churches in Ukraine and Poland, they are providing food and shelter for thousands of people and have been doing it for 6 weeks now with no end yet in sight. This is a monumental undertaking these brothers and sisters have taken on and it is our honor to partner with them.
We recently took a special offering to help with the Ukraine relief effort. Thank you for your generous response. One of the ministries that we contributed toward was the SEND Missions agency which just sent us a video explaining how those funds are being used. I appreciate your generosity and I appreciate the efforts of SEND to let us share in the news of how this is being used for gospel good in spite of such a hard season. Here is the link to that video.
The world is on edge. Inflation pressures are worrisome. Health officials are speaking out about the unusually high levels of anxiety in children. What a great week to be reminded about the death and resurrection of Christ! Join with me and pray for opportunities to talk with people about our hope in Christ and invite them to join us Friday evening and Sunday morning. Our Good Friday communion service will focus on the cross by taking us through John 17-19. I would love for you to read through those chapters ahead of time in preparation for that service. Then, Lord willing, I will be preaching from Romans 4:22-25 on Sunday morning on how the greatest event (the resurrection of Christ) is linked to the greatest truth (justification by faith alone). We all need to be reminded of the power and the hope of the gospel; right now, it just seems to be even more urgent.
Come ready to sing! Come ready to shout! He is risen INDEED!!
Grace and peace,
Bob
