December 3, 2025

Thank-you for the stories of the prayers that you have written and are praying as a result of the message from this past Sunday. What an encouragement! Speaking of praying…

My friend, Mark Dever has been the pastor of Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. for almost as long as I have been here at Cornerstone. My understanding of the church and the many benefits of that have come by in large from him. Mark has had a profound influence on how I think about pastoral ministry. The list of books this man has written, the conferences he has organized and spoken at, the leaders he has helped raise up, the churches he has helped plant, the ministries he has helped start are massive in scope, and so laser-like in focus. Many of you know of Mark and you have read his stuff. What you may not know about is his wife, Connie.

Connie has spent more days of 2025 in the hospital than she has at home. She is suffering from an extremely rare autoimmune disorder. When it flares up, she becomes paralyzed, completely. Her doctors have determined that she suffers from a condition of which there are only about 12 cases known of in the world. Therefore, protocols are almost anyone’s guess. Yesterday she was given a drug that shows some promise for her, but it can come with some serious side effects. It appeared that she was tolerating it rather well, until today. For several hours (as of this morning) Connie has been shivering non-stop.

Would you please pray for Connie to be able to process and benefit from the meds and that she would tolerate them and stabilize?

Grace and peace,

Bob
