Q: Which Sunday morning Adult Bible Fellowship (ABF) class is studying Sanctification right now?
A: ABFs meet every Sunday morning at 9am. If you aren’t in an ABF, come see us at the kiosk on Sunday morning where we can identify all the current ABF topics. We would love to point you in the right direction. To answer the question, there are actually two studying Sanctification: Abide and Truth in Action.
Q: Stephen Magee has been working on organizing our church health ministry. I asked him for an update and here is what he said:
A: We are refreshing our Church Health Ministry here at CBC. Cathi Johnson started the program 10+ years ago as a way to care for our church and our community. While elements of the initial program remain, including but not limited to our diabetes prevention class lead by Jim Alvaro, the momentum was halted by COVID. We are hoping to reboot the program under the mission of, “To advance the kingdom of God through health.” In order to decide a direction for the ministry and what programs we can offer, we need to know what medical and non-medical volunteers we have. If you have any interest in hearing more, please contact Stephen Magee and be on the lookout for an informational meeting being planned for early this summer.
Q: Why do you print monthly updates in the bulletin about our church finances?
A: Last week my favorite college basketball team won the national championship game. Imagine if they played that game with no scoreboard. What would the last two minutes of the game be like if they didn’t keep score? Who is winning? Do they need to shoot a three-pointer or maybe foul intentionally? That would be chaotic!
When we, the members, agreed to the budget in November, we made a commitment to give to that level. Inserting a monthly reminder helps to keep members in the know and should keep us from a chaotic finish.
Q: Speaking of the budget, we raised it this year by $41,000. How are we doing with that?
A: The best way to answer that question is to attend the Members’ Meeting on April 26. The meeting will be proceeded by a potluck dinner. RSVP here. In addition, 1st quarter reports will be out on Sunday. Grab a copy so you can be informed and we will see you at the meeting!
Q: What opportunities do you have for men coming up?
A: I can think of two good ones coming soon. First, Jim Alvaro is hosting a men’s Euchre night on May 1 at Cornerstone in room 45. The $5 donation goes towards pizza and pop. You can sign up with a partner or get assigned one the night of.
RSVP here.
Second, the men’s breakfast on Saturday, May 9 has great food, plus we will be thinking about how Christians can love their country. RSVP here.
Q: What opportunities do you have for women coming up?
A: First, there is women’s service project coming up next week on Tuesday afternoon at 12:30. Join us in the Gathering Space as we make blankets for kids. RSVP here. Second, there is an ice cream social game night on May 15. RSVP here.
Have a great day CBC!
