Door Dash has become a big deal. I’m not sure (outside of pizza delivery) I would have ever imagined a day in which we could seemingly have any type of food, from almost any restaurant, delivered right to our home. Amazon delivery makes it possible to shop online, and have products delivered to our doorsteps within hours. What if opportunities for sharing the Gospel happened like that? What if you heard your doorbell ring one day and there were 30-50 people from your neighborhood, on your doorstep, waiting for you to study the Bible with them? What if I told you we have a ministry to children that looks somewhat like that?
Connect is a ministry that has been in place at Cornerstone for over a decade. Connect happens on Thursdays from 12:30-3:00 PM starting in October and ending in May. On Connect days, we host Children from Roseville area schools in our own church building. They come to our own doorstep. We spend time studying the Bible with them, praying with them, singing, and engaging in small group discussions. It really is a unique opportunity. Connect is scheduled to start on October 6th this year and we need volunteers. If you are interested in serving, or would like to find out more about how you can be involved, please send me an email (chad@cbcroseville.org).
Connected to “Connect” (couldn’t resist the play on words) is our annual Trunk-or-Treat event. Trunk-or-Treat is scheduled for Friday evening, October 28th. This is an event that we host for Fountain Elementary (one of our Connect schools). Fountain’s PTO uses the event as a fund raiser. We look at it as an opportunity to be good neighbors, to build relationships with those in the community, and to maintain our good relationship with the school. In the past, some have asked why we charge for the event. We charge because the school charges. The money we collect from Cornerstone families for admission goes toward purchasing things (candy, refreshments, etc.) needed for event. If you would like to be involved, we need “Trunkers” and candy donations for the event. There will be a sign-up form for “Trunkers” posted on Cornerstone Connection here. Baskets for candy donations will also be placed around the building starting this week. If you have questions about Connect or about Trunk-or-Treat please don’t hesitate to reach out.
