IMPACT - Sundays, 9:30-10:30 AM
JOURNEY - Wednesdays, 6:45-8:15 PM
Students in their Middle School years are entering a very different phase of life than they've been in before. Everything is different - friends, activities, conversations, even temptations are growing more intense. They are on a type of new JOURNEY. So this time is designed for our Middle School students to gather in a more informal setting - different from IMPACT. There is social time for them to grow in their friendships. We play games to encourage their interaction together. There is music designed to help them praise the Lord. And, our teaching is more topical - aimed to address the more specific issues of their lives.
COLLISION - Sundays, 5:30-7:30 PM
Being a Christian is messy business. We fail and succeed...sin and grow...learn (often times the hard way) and change. The story of the Bible, and our lives, is of our depravity colliding with God's grace - and being overwhelmed by the person and work of Jesus Christ. So COLLISION is designed for our High School students to gather in a more informal setting where everything is aimed at helping them learn how to enjoy God - and life in Christ. Being a Christian is not about living a dull, lonely life. We want them to enjoy Christ and enjoy each other, and love their church. So we have a social time to build new friendships and strengthen existing ones. We have games to help them interact and enjoy each other. We sing a lot to provide a means for them to praise the Lord. And the goal of our teaching during COLLISION is to teach the students through the Bible (Genesis-Revelation) in four years.
Cafe 10.31 is named after 1 Corinthians 10:31 where Paul stresses our need to honor God in all we do - even in our eating and drinking. Our Cafe provides a variety of things to eat and drink, and a place where students can sit, talk, and play games. Cafe 10.31 is open on Sunday mornings, Sunday nights, Wednesday nights, as well as during a lot of our activities.
For the Love of God is a great devotional, written by D.A. Carson that will help you read through the Bible in a year by following Robert Murray M'Cheyne's reading plan. Each day you will find a list of chapters (around four) for you to read followed by a short devotional unpacking the meaning and significance of one of the chapters.
I have gone through this devotional myself and really appreciate the way Carson faithfully unpacks the passages while showing how all the small pieces find their place in the overall Bible story - ultimately finding their place in Jesus Christ. For the Love of God is an excellent resource in helping you become more familiar with the Scriptures on a broader level, while also challenging you with specific truths, unpacking a passage on a deeper level. For those of you who struggle with having a plan or knowing where to start reading, this will be very helpful.
